MINE TOOO YES,

I have 5 pipping, and one who decided to pip from the small end. It is in the largest egg so hopefully all will go ok. So cool to see our babies.. put any pictures you have up or your hatch.

My first pippings! LOL, I'm so suprised any of these are hatching we had a lot of OH CRAP's with it being my first hatch ever in my first incubator ever.. These are going to be some either very strong chicks, or somewhat mentally damaged chicks from all we put them through with trying to get humidity and temps right.. Oh well it has been fun,

How many eggs did you start with? I can't wait to see how many we hatch!

Good Hatching!

I had 45 total when I started. I think I threw out 5, because they were not developing. 17 of those were put in on day 3 so they are a couple of days behind. I will have to see how many I will get total. I was told first hatch not to except but about half to hatch. Have you got any yet??

Thees are still in the bator.

i am a head of you by a few days i set my eggs on the 5th and this is my first time doing this we are trying out the incubator with 12 eggs i started them out in a homemade one but it was not holding the temp that i wanted so went and got a still air incubator

Whooo hoo,

Yep we got some over night 10 out of 12 hatched. With today being day 21 I will wait and see if the other two start to pip. Figuring out this homemade incubator was defiantly interesting. It took a lot of vigilance to finally get the thing to maintain proper temp and humidity. But it is doing great now.

Now that there are 10 little fluffy butts breathing in their the humidity is going WAY UP! So I opened up another hole for more ventilation. We actually put one hole large enough on top that if we needed to we could reach down into the incubator without it loosing humidity. We increased ventilation by opening this one up a bit. It was up to 89% humidity.

I did end up helping one a little bit though, it was the first one to pip sometime Saturday night. it was still in its shell strong enough to roll the egg around with it's beak out of a hole screaming it's head off. It decided to try to come out from the small end of the egg. So we brought it up through the hole on the top, and we went from 88 down to 87% humidity retrieving this little bugger so I'm happy with that part of our design. It could see with one eye through the hole, it started screaming and the egg looked almost as if it was jumping! I started at the hole and slowly pulled the shell off, then very gently pulled the membrane back. It had zero blood, soon as we gave it a little more room it started thrashing it's way out of the egg, the shell fell off and it started to stand up almost and scream and it kicked it's shell. It was so funny. Put it back in the other with the babies and it finally settled down but was still very verbal about the whole situation.

I'm happy for a first time hatcher in a homemade incubator I think we did pretty good. Here is the first 10

How long did you wait to move yours out of the incubator?

I have some others who's to start lock down tonight. We will see how many more hatch on Wed.

They are so cute. You did great. I am afraid I might have fried the rest of my eggs. I have been having trouble the last day keeping the temperature right and Last night I thought I had it steady on 99.1 I got up at 5:15 and it was 102.9. I freaked out. Today is actually day 21 for the rest in the batch that have already hatched and Wednesday is day 21 for the others. Did I kill them?

My first time hatching and I know that you can only except about a 50% hatch usually, but I don't want it to have been my fault.

I doubt it, I discovered those little buggers are stronger than we think.

Remember me saying that we had a lot of OH CRAP moments. One time I my husband came home from school and the temp was 107.2 I about died, I knew they were all dead and there was no hope.. As you can see that wasn't exactly true. There were other times it went up to 104, then down into the 80's etc.. So breath and don't give up yet.. What are you hatching out now..

All of this First hatch are just Barnyard specials I got from a friend. He has black star, barred rock, americauna, cochin and a cockoo maran for roos he has a cochin and a Rhode Island Red. Two of the twelve that have hatched already have feathered legs. It is very cute.

My first hatch is all mix also, they are from my back yard. It is funny to see them hatching.. Today the ones I thought would hatch on Wed started hatching, so another day before the incubator opens... Good thing they have those little yolk sacs, and that I thought far enough ahead to hide some food and water in there.
