How does the skillet method work? I would be TERRIFIED of accidentally cooking them!! But it looks like a really good idea, and I'm going to have a couple of groups that I will need a separate hatcher for.

Follow the link in my sig and you will find the thread with the directions on setting it up. The only setup thing I did different is I added an allen wrench in the corner for more air flow. For hatch I've added paper towel rings to set the eggs on.

Actually, this is the second hatch in the skillet. The first ones hatched out 12 days ago. But, I have used an incubator until day 18 and then moved them into the skillet.

The chick that pipped on the wrong end is still alive but, not doing anything. I have zipped the egg for it (cramped quarters) and it is just resting.

Well, the second one to pip (wrong end) is still in it's shell. It's peeping and breathing but, must not be quite ready to come yet.

I have two other pips as well this morning!

Our only survivor pipped at the wrong end, couldn't move, wouldn't shut up so we ended up removing most of his shell per the directions on here. I'm glad we did - he is darling and spunky and a whole lot of trouble. At one week he can almost escape his brooder box and a couple of the D'uccles are trying to follow his lead...

Sounds like a really healthy and out going chick!

All mine has to do is uncurl and push itself out. The end it pipped on is open. I had removed the shell and it did the membrane. As it hasn't hatched, I'm guessing the membrane must have broke with it's moving.

I have helped the one piped on the wrong end out. It is very wobbly and falls all over but, is trying which is more than it did at first. It is also a talker. It sounds good and strong so hopefully, with a little time, it can get it's feet under it's little body and be fine.

I also have two more pips!
