Hatch Date - - November 3 - -> Anybody Hatching With Me ? ?

I've heard people who have had one or two hatch as late as day 27 . . . The cooler the temps the longer to hatch.

I had 2 hatch today. . . I don't hear anymore peeps, but I will give it another couple of days before I take down the incubator. .

I candled them earlier and KNOW that there was developement in all of them . . .
I am having temp issues - - LOST THE POWER for 6 hours today

for your very kind words. Yes I am sure it could have gone either way. I am soft in the head when it comes to these little rascals. I am going to go bury him now in the backyard now--so sad.......and of course try it again....

They will peep from inside the shell LONG before they pip. The one that hatched today - - - we heard peeping inside the shell last night - - - many hours before she got a hole in the shell !

I made a chicken!!!
Well, I didn't actually MAKE it but I helped it come into the world.
The Lone Ranger has hatched!
I can't find my cable or I'd upload pics.
I am in love.

They can start peeping as soon as they poke their little beaks into the air cell, even before the egg is pipped externally.

I never allow them to stay in the egg after late on Day 22. It is rarely a strong chick that hatches late like that and many have serious issues. Remember, they continue to grow and may not be able to get out, even if they are still alive in there.

My three are due on the 10th.

This is EXACTLY the way I felt when my first ever chick hatched in the incubator. (Even the Lone Ranger bit, except that more eggs hatched TOO, which surprised me because I was sure I had screwed something up, somewhere.)

I couldn't tear myself away TO upload pictures for a few hours, anyway, even if I had found my USB cable right away.

Congratulations!
