Here are a few pictures of my babies. 29 hatched so far out of 42, if no more hatch I feel lucky that I have this many
for my first try at incubation.

Good to see so many hatches are making progress. Good luck all.

akbufflady- aww the chicks are so cute, and congrats on the great numbers. I am planning on setting 42 eggs after this hatch completes and I was thinking I would be happy with just half that.

I started lockdown on my 5 chicks yesterday saw a little movement but so ready for them to hatch. But day 21 is monday so I am trying to wait patiently.

I'm now up to 8 (I think there's more though) Jersey Giants, 3-4 Black Copper Marans, 4-5 or so Ameraucanas, and my Polish Chick!! It hatched sometime when I was asleep!!

But honestly I have no clue who it is in the jumble of chicks. . . They're all either blonde, black, blue, or splash. And the chicken calculator says my Polish should either be black or white. . . .

Well, looks like Quackers #4 is doing good.

Hatch is complete here. Out of 42 I have 32. 4 pipped but never progressed and died, I believe it was due to so many of the new hatchlings laying on the eggs, the rest of the eggs still had not pipped. I'm thinking some were smothered by the other chicks. I did a bad thing, I helped #32 out of his shell. He had almost completely hatched before I went to bed last night. This morning he had not progressed but was still alive, he seemed very strong but was just having a hard time getting the rest of the way out. As of now he is doing good. Hatch rate of 76% for my first hatch, I'm thrilled. Now, all these little babies to take care of. What else would I do? Will be setting another hatch around the end of the month. lol Husband has already made plans of enlarging the chicken coop.

Hope all the hatches are going smoothly.

Wow, congrats, I'm glad #32 is doing good. Quackers #4 had to be moved to the brooder because he laying on an egg that is trying to hatch, and I could hear the baby in the egg, it sounded like it was distressed. So I took Quackers out and but it in the brooder, but now it doesn't look so good, it's in the brooder not moving with it's head layed down but it's eyes open, I thought it was dead, but then noticed it's breathing. So I hope it's just resting, but I'm a little worried. The brooder is 98 degrees, so I know it's warm enough.
