This is so exciting, LOL. Unfortunately I do not know the breed, but I will be contacting the lady I bought the eggs from here in town to make sure

I did read about waiting at least a day or two before taking them out of the incubator and we have a brooder ready to go with a heat lamp and food/water

Well today was hatch day. No movement. My ducks were moving days before hatch day. I am not thinking I am going to get any maran babies :-( Still hovering but not holding my breath. I just don't know if they survived that lid being left off a couple hours.

I posted earlier the picture of our first baby chick that hatched around 7pm, but just recently it started chirping louder and there's blood coming out from his butt. Is this normal after hatching? Is there something I can do to help?

I would say no its not good. Mine didnt have blood coming out of its butt. I would try and remove it quickly and see whats going on. Maybe someone else on here can help.

OK...I took the baby chick out and he seems to be bleeding from the stomach area, not a lot, but enough to make a mess inside the incubator

. I'm assuming this is from the umbilical cord?

Thats where the yolk is absorbed into the chick.. s/he might have been ready yet. Put her/him into the brooder under the light and just watch him/her and see how he does. Sorry I couldn't help you with this.
