Hatch On Dates: Oct-nov? Dont Forget About This Post!!!

I bought a separate thermometer and hygrometer that both had a money back garantee that they were accurate for incubating (thats what they were designed to do) and I compared the combo temp/hygro reader that came with my bator and it read exactly the same as the garanteed ones

it has 'incubatorwarehouse' written on the top of it so if I ever needed another one I'm guessing I could buy it from them online. It really helps to have accurate equipment, hatching chicks is hard enough without dealing with bad readings (like it did with my first hatch).

My broodies always sit on the eggs for at least a couple of days after the first chick hatches--maybe you should leave the first chick for a day or so and then take it away until the others hatch. You can slip chicks that are under a week old under a good broody with no trouble at all. Good luck!

Thanks for the correction!!

From this hatch I already have 3 Marans, 1 Silkie, 1 Silkie-X, and a Sebright. I am so excited! Today is Day 21 and I'll be running back to check the eggs every few minutes... I won't need to exercise, for sure, because I'll get plenty!

Way to go to everyone who has babies! It's going to be an overdose of fluffy goodness once we get our cameras going!

Yes it will be!! I am sitting here at work watching my live feed and I swear one eggs looks like its starting to wiggle, but I cant be for sure. Ahh, why couldn't I just ask off for the next two days! hah.

Well me and hubby are going out of town for our anniversary so I just wanted to say congrats to all the new Mommies and Daddies, and goodluck to all the rest of you! Good hatching vibes to everyone!!!

I didn't have much luck with my first jab at incubation and some say it was my humidity being high. Mine ran anywhere from 50-60. But then their are others that say they have had good hatches with running around 50 for the first 18 days.

I'm now on my second attempt at incubation and I'm giving the dry incubation a try. So far my humidity has been running anywhere from 30-40 without me adding any water. I did end up tossing 5 eggs that were clear and I have 2 that show movement when candled and the other 5 are still in question. It sure is a learning experience.

I agree, 55 is WAY too high for the first 18 days, you really don't have to worry about it until lockdown but you want it low, def not that high!!!!

guys i candled my eggs last night and i could see the air sack or cell whatever its called is this good or bad and some where bigger then others ive always heard the bigger the better

Did you see veining? At three days I could just see it on the silkie eggs that broody two is sitting on. All the air cells were equal on mine. I just used a bright flash light and my cupped hand to candle out in the coop at night.
