Hatch On Dates: Oct-nov? Dont Forget About This Post!!!

Hi, I just set 15 lavender bantam ameraucana eggs this morning. They arrived on Thursday and I've been trying to get the incubator stable in the right range. It is a Hovabator Genesis 1588 forced air. The eggs all looked good on candling (I think) and we'll see if I get the humidity thing right. I am trying not to be paranoid about it but I check the temps etc every few minutes at the moment to be sure they are not creeping up, in fact I think they are a little low right now.... just turned the air conditioner off - hopefully that will help. The last time I hatched using the incubator (years ago now) I had a temp spike that almost cooked the whole lot! So trying to make sure this doesn't happen again...

I'm with you there! It is such a thrill when they make it to the last stage and you see chicks pipping and zipping - but heart in your throat too wondering if everything is going ok and sometimes whether to intervene and when - nothing like trying to be a momma hen when you really aren't qualified

i candle them every morning and the dark eggs are soo hard to see through so i have to wait on thos to develop more (if they are). i have some california grey/ blue andalusian cross eggs in there and they are white eggs and easy to c inside and they are developing great so far. hoping all hatch well, hate this waiting period lol, i wanna c them hatch already

The eggs go in first thing in the morning for me. No fancy incubator, just the old foam box type. I have 10 beautiful dark Black Copper Marans eggs waiting for me. I just want to check my temps a few dozen more times before putting these eggs in. I have only hatched one chicken so far ever. I am a pretty fair hand at the geese and ducks though so hoping that carries over to chickens. My one chick was a runt, had a rough hatch, and only lived a few weeks so really hoping for better luck this time.

How soon would I see anything in really dark eggs?

when i candled my chickens eggs that were dark that my chickens were on it wasnt till the 10th day, buy u have marans and thos r really dark, u might c results in the 8th-11th day, or sooner if u have a bright light to candle with

I'm a newbie around here and finally finished and got the temp steady in my homemade incubator. Thought it would be time to try it out. I Set 14 Silkie eggs. I'm really excited!!!

I'll keep ya'll updated! I keep going over and looking and thinking to myself... "How much longer do I have to wait... 21.. no wait is it 20.. That's just way to long to wait... but good things come to those who wait" I am just happy I put a window to look in or I'll end up opening it up every so often to check and make sure they are doing alright.
