Hatch Thread! (Celadons, Banded Blacks, Silver/Andalusians)

Hey! I saw many people do this and thought it would be fun.

My SWGB red range & tuxedo celadons are going into lockdown tonight, and I have some banded blacks and silvers/andalusians that will be hatching soon too.

Here are some pics of the celadon eggies. I’ll follow up weekly, but I’ll take pics of any zips n pips for sure!

Thank you! I’m super excited, 12/12 have made it so far (technically 2 had to get culled but those were extras) which is way better than the last time I ordered! I picked Thieving Otter this time. Also went with a different incubator. Had some weird issues in the last stage of laying so I’m hoping to learn from my mistakes prior and come out with a more successful hatch

Oh wow! 12/12 is really good. I only had half hatch last hatch. Say that 5 times fast lol Someone I talked to said that their brother hatched some chicks but only like 5 or 10 out of 50 made it. What incubator did you use?

And oh my, yeah that is… not good. Makes me feel a lil better about my first hatch 5/18

Me too! I haven’t seen many videos of photos of the hatching process for red range & tuxedos, so I’m wondering if they’ll look reddish on hatch or if I can tell their spots before they fully develop

My scarlet chick (heterozygous eb roux, range is homozygous eb) was solid rusty red at hatch so I’d think you could tell. Just remember roux is a sex linked recessive (hen expresses with one copy, male needs two). Tuxedo/pied wing white should be overall yellow wherever there is going to be white (mostly yellow chick with top line striping in base color (eb, pharoah or whatever). Sounds like a fun hatch!!

Update: We have wigglers! 1, 3, and 5 I saw wiggling today. I caught a video of a movement.

Unfortunately, I can’t seem to figure out how to upload a video, so here’s a picture. Compare the placement of egg 1 to the original pictures and you’ll see how much it moved!

Thank you for the help, I’ll definitely look back at this comment when they hatch because it will come in handy for determining colors! Crossing my fingers for a white wing!
