thanks and congrats on your babies!! woohoo!!

yeah I was a little bummed but as I tell my kids, "you get what you get and you don't throw a fit!!" so I'm grateful that I have as many other eggs as I do still good! as it was I got WAY more than I paid for and the split lav's were part of that. I can either be upset none developed or just be happy I have 22 others that ARE!! I was really wanting the BBS so anything beyond that was just icing on the cake! was only expecting to get 12 eggs, so to have 22 developing is almost double what I would have ever expected when I bought these.

oh and the humidity is sitting around 55% so I'm not sure why the excess weight loss or if I should try to increase humidity more. if I take out the three that are way off the others my average is 11% loss with 6 more days to lockdown, still seems a little too high?!

Thanks AshleyFishy for at least letting me be here. This site is the GREATEST. 1st off, I got the LG 10200 (wish I would have read more threads before I ordered it. Seems like alot of people arent very happy with LG.) Has the circulating air. Maybe, hopefully it will be better than the 9200 people were talking about. Its due here on Tuesday. Sounds like I have to check temp, and humidity a couple days to be sure everything works okey. Not ordering the eggs till probly Friday or Saturday morning. Then I read threads about shipped eggs hatching poorly. X=ray machine at post office (maybe). So now I'm really scared... anyway... lol, I'm getting 12 Barred Plymouth Rock and 12 New Hampshire Red eggs. Wanna see how this goes before I try anything to fancy... haha. Hopefull I will be up and going around the 3rd or 4th. Sure would appriciate ANY AND ALL help at that time. Don't know much about starting threats or anything like that so I'll just hang around here if that's okey?

Thanks AshleyFishy and all else for being a super group of people.

Hey 6littlechickies- where did you get your BBS if you don't mind me asking? I also have BBS in the incubator right now and am also in Ohio and would love a more local supplier of true Ameraucanas. What is the egg color like on your eggs? Sorry to hear about your Lav Splits, beautiful birds!

Cluckcluckcharlie-You will not be disappointed with your Barred Rocks! Super smart, affectionate, and good layers. Some of mine lay a nice pinky or purpley egg. Love mine!

Hi Ashley Fishy I too put some eggs or started putting them in around the 10-12 and have added to them. So yes if they hatch we will have a staggered hatch and on top of that I have read I did another no no which is put duck eggs in with chicken eggs. So anyhow depending on all the "ifs" we go into a semi lockdown around the 8th of June. I will take the turner out then and just hand turn the chicken eggs and the few later duck eggs until they hatch. No humidity monitor in ours we are going old fashioned and seeing what happens. It is a still air with auto turner has the temp around 100.7 - 100.8 and I keep a damp sponge in there as well as a small bit of water in the bottom and will slack off the humidity as lockdown draws closer. Our ducks will be a pekin/crested mallard cross and our chickens will be a backyard medley of ALL different kinds with four different roo possibilities so this is going to be really fun for us to try and figure out what they are as they hatch and grow IF we are lucky enough to have some make it. We are also in East Texas located in Winnsboro actually. Kinda cool to have someone nearby doing the same hatch and all !!!!!!

Oh My... here I go. AshleyFishy... you said to ask questions... haha. What is LOCKDOWN? Thinking like a crimminal, is that like that last couple days before hatching when you dont do anything, you lockdown the lid of the incubator ? Or zipping, or some of those other terms I have no Idea what they mean. Maybe I better wait a few months before I get my eggs.. haha.

Lockdown is when you remove the turner if you have one and do not open the incubator. Some people do this 3 days before expected hatch date. Zipping is after the chick has poked the little starter hole which is the pip and begins to crack around the egg opening up like a zipper.........did I explain that right?

Thanks the4heathernsmom... you explained it pretty much the way I thought, but just wasn't 100% sure. I do have or will have a turner when I'm ready to go. I wasnt sure about when to remove it, but I know now. Not afraid to ask questions here anymore... lol
