You should be fine combining duck and chicken eggs together to hatch!!! I've done it with Chickens and ducks with no problems and even Chicken and Turkey eggs. Good Luck to you!

Here is my poor little Pancake girl. I think she just might earn the name Jemima.

And I recounted everything when she got off of the nest, she has 15 eggs...not 14!

i don't mind at all! I tried to find someone that was somewhat local, at least close enough for me to drive to pick up, took us about 1 hour 45 min to get there. I've had lots of eggs shipped so I knew if i could find someone local I'd have a better hatch. Her website is http://www.fawnlanefarm.net/ her name is Debbie. Not sure if she is on BYC, I emailed to ask her but haven't heard back.

I'm very pleased with the egg color, beautiful blue color. I'll take a pic and post tomorrow, i'll put a couple next to my EE eggs for comparison. I have three girls that all lay nice blue-green colored eggs.

I dont think my eggs are alive. I just watched two videos on candling and what they had in their eggs at day 11 is not what I have at all. I have lots of veins but I dont see anything moving inside, I checked that one that scared my husband and I ...I didn't see anything moving around in there either.

Please tell me what I'm looking for.

If your seeing veins then your eggs are ok! When a chick dies the blood leaves the veins and pools into what they call the blood ring, a circle around the embryo or a thin blood line around the inside of the egg. What kind of light are you using to candle your eggs?

I agree with this! If you are still seeing veins, you should be good. You also might not be using a strong enough flashlight to penetrate the shell. My Barred Rock girl lays some nice brown eggs, and I use a Surefire flashlight but still have to be in a completely dark room before I can see anything besides veins.

Hope this helps!

I'm using the cool-lite candler from GQF. Yeah there are tons of veins. I'm hoping thats all there is, I'm just worried I guess. Y'all are right, it they were dead there would be a blood ring. There is no blood ring atleast yet.

Thanks for that

hmmmm did not know that about the veins ...... that is good because I thought a couple of the duck eggs were not developing or had died but maybe not because the veins are still there....I don't see "movement" of my little embryo's but I don't look too long for fear the eggs will cool with me opening and shutting the incubator so much while candling.
