I just checked my notes from my last hatch and mine started pipping the morning of day 21. I had chicks still hatching into the afternoon of day 22. But my first hatch of the year in a still air LG incubator with temps running too high, the chicks hatched on day 19 and 20!! I'll bet since you set your eggs Sunday afternoon, that you will have some pips Wednesday night

Do they just make a hole and you know they have pipped?

You will have to look very closely to see the first little pip that looks like a tiny x! Then the chick breaks through and there is a little hole that you will see the chicks beak sticking out. They sit and rest quite awhile before they start zipping~ There can be long periods of rest between each of these stages since it is exhausting work for a little chickie to hatch!

12 pips - and crazy cheeping -- one has its beak all the way through and the kids are SO fascinated!!!!

Sounds like a very healthy batch of babies!! It is so much fun to see things through the eyes of a child!!
