Hatch with me! Placed in bator on 5-13-2010. First hatch!

Update: 9 chicks and 1 pip...... still nothing out of 5 eggs hopefully they are late bloomers.

5 keets hatched and 4 pips .......6 eggs still waiting with the 1 cochin egg.

The incubator temp was down to 98 this morning. I will leave them in lock down a few more days since they may be slow to hatch due to this. I am really frustrated since this is the second hatch attempt with zero hatch results. I am not sure what is happening to cause it. The incubator and the hatcher were clean when I started, temp holding well at 100 to 101.5, humidity at 40% in the incubator and at 60-65% in the hatcher. I don't understand why the air cell is larger than it should be and in the small end instead of the large end since the eggs were placed large end up from the beginning. Anyone know what I am doing wrong? These are Hova Bator still air incubators and the one has a auto turner. I can install a fan if it will make the hatch probability better.

Oh My, I got home yesterday just in time to see my first little quail hatch. I could not believe how cute they are.

Once one hatched then they all started one after another. I lost count of how many hatched. I still have 5 or 6 this morning that have not peeped but I can hear the chick in side. I had a few dead in the shell, just did not hatch and a couple that stopped developing but overall for my fist hatch I think we had 75% of the eggs hatch.

I took thesse pics through the peep window on my cell phone so it is not the best.

Thanks for looking.

Teresa

CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE

On your new chicks! Out of my 8~ first one died zipping because it was too big (oversized egg-too large yoke) 4 have hatched, 1 lazy one half zipped and resting and 1 just pipped an hour ago! It is a better hatch on these shipped eggs than expected

If the last two make it out ok than that will be 7 of 8 eggs. Here is a picture of a couple of them, an obvious pullet at back and rooster in front. All my chicks are Blue Laced Red Wyandottes.

Looks like my seven is all i'm going to get out of this hatch. I candled the rest last night and I think 3 are still good so left them in for a couple more days but not holding out hope on them.

Took a few pics of some this morning. I also posted on the Amer thread b/c a couple have this reddish coloring in them and I have no clue where that is coming from!? I don't think they should have any of this coloring but I'm trying to get some of the experts to give me some insight.

anyhow, some pics....
here is my blue

I am using two hova bators and it worked great. Did you open any of the bad eggs to see if the chicks developed or not? Where are you getting your eggs from? How long did they sit befor you put in the bator?

It should like you have done everything right for a good hatch. Sounds like you may have had som bad eggs. How many eggs are you setting?

My Hovabator does not have a fan either.

The eggs came from my neighbor. I let the eggs set for 24 hours after we harvested them from the chickens whom had laid them. None of these eggs were shaken or stirred in any way. No peeps, pips, or anything yet. I am using a flashlight to look into the hatcher so I don't have to open it to check. The eggs were fertile since they did develop and her chickens are healthy so I don't know what is happening to them.

I set 18 eggs and have 15 in the hatcher. 1 was not fertile or quit at the very beginning and the other 2 had quit before day 10. I have not opened any of the eggs as of yet.

So far I have 5 fluffy chics and 5 eggs sitting in the bator doing nothing.

Technically today is their due date so I'm going to let them sit for a little while longer. How long would you leave them in the bator? 1 day, 2 days, 3? I haven't seen these move but then I haven't been watching them like a hawk either.
