Both bators are empty...........I need my support group to talk me down.

Right there with you CuzChickens! My babies are now a couple of weeks old and looking more like actual chickens than the fluff butts that they are in the beginning.

I'm sitting on my hands to keep from in boxing my beautiful new incubator, that I dearly want to see filled... I keep telling myself NO MORE until these are sexed and I know EXACTLY how many pullets I actually have! If I'm shy ANY, I'm breaking it out and going to town! LOL

Just remember, every time you set eggs you have a chance of hatching all roos!  Their little fluff butts are cute until they start crowing.

I have 15 hens and 8 roosters out of my first batch. I'm tickled pink about that. And four of them even have homes, the owners just want them older so they don't need to set up a brooder. Fingers crossed for this next batch. I can't tell with them yet.

Those are great numbers! My first batch only had 4 chicks and I know 1 of them is a roo and I suspect another one is too. I don't have homes for them yet, they are only 5 weeks old.

Congrats! You got an exceptionally favorable % of females! Did you do anything specific to encourage that to happen? Or just some really good luck?

Bators are nearly all empty...the 2 chicks that you saw pics of earlier are in that awkward feathering stage, but still follow me everywhere

I ended up naming them Kai and Olive. My batch of 10 are doing good, 4 hatched last night (on day 21).

Day 22 and 1 is hatching now, 1 is internally pipped, i think one is dead (that never got to Internally Pip) because i have seen no movement for 2 days in the egg via candling. The others are a 2 days or so behind...so aren't due to hatch yet...

Glad the incubators will be free for the Easter hatch-a-long.....

Good luck finding homes for them, I know it can be a nightmare! We had chicken tacos tonight with some roosters that nobody wanted.

Nope, nothing specific, just beginners luck, I guess! Or maybe it is my hens? Perhaps some are laying more female eggs than not?
