Well a few weeks ago, I bought 6 guineas off of a neighbor. he threw in 20 eggs. I put them in the incubator, and about 15 minutes ago, the first one hatched. my first question is what do I feed this critter? can I put a small jar feeder in the box with some all flock feed in it? or should I use cracked corn? I placed a coffee can lid in with some water in it. I dont want it to drown before it makes it thru the night.
Any inpuit is appreciated!

Congratulations. Have any more hatched?

Sweetie, you need to put some paper towel or old towel down so the floor wont be so slippery, keets can loose footing and hurt legs. Also put marbles or clean stones in the water so they can just barely get beak in so they don't drown. They love water but it can be crewl..lol.
Congrads on the hatch and scoring the free eggs!!

Good advice given so far... but next time I highly suggest leaving the keet in the incubator until it's COMPLETELY dried and fluffed, and moving/running around in there really well. Keets need to be able to use all the traction they can get from the wire in the bottom of the incubator until their feet and legs are working like they should. Plus opening the incubator puts the other eggs at risk because you let out too much of the warm moist air they need, and let in a bunch of cold dry air that can cause them to shrink wrap and die in the shell before hatching.

You didn't mention a heat source, how are you keeping this little guy warm?

out of the 20, 3 hatched. I did purt a rag in the box, shortly after taking this pic. and paper strips from my shredder. I installed a heat lamp as well, and a feeder and a water bottle. (I've hatched quail eggs before) the three hatchlings are doing fine. Thanks for the replies!
