I just candled for the last time and my duck is trying to push through the membrane into the air sac. So exciting, can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After i took these pics my niece's an nephew came over so i took all the babies the chicks and the ducklings an put them on the floor an i stood in front an said ( Cluck! - Cluck! - Cluck! )
and they all came racing behind me an followed me to the living room

it was just to cute

It's been 24 hours since the ducklings hatch..they had there first little swim today! i took pics i'll post later today!

Bird Boy, Congratulations on your Duckies!! They are so cute, Thanks for all of the pictures. What kind of chicks & ducks are they?

My girls are here for the long weekend and they both have digital cameras, so I'm gonna get some pics of my two little chickies that hatched last Friday. The same thing happened with one of my chicks and the yolk sack. I just left it in the incubator and by the next day it was fine. It was acting real weak and laying around alot but now I can' t tell the difference.

My Turn next, my ducks should hatch on Wed. You said you let your little ducks swim already? I thought I read somewhere that you shouldn't let baby ducks or geese that are hatched in a incubator swim untill they are about 2 months old. Something about they get oils from their mother that protects them and without it they could possibly drown? Anyone out there have any details on this? I think I'll post another thread asking. This is my first batch of ducks and geese.

oh the duck didn't really swim it was only like 3 inches of water i had them in they could stand in it an i was there the hole time with them

the chicks are mixed RIR & Leghorn & banty.... all in one..lol

and the ducks are farm mallards.. you no the ones that get really fat an waddle around..lol
but i'm very happy with my very first hatch i had a 50% hatch with the chicks and a 90% hatch with the ducks

Next i want to incubate Quails.... but i don't know anyone who has any with eggs

the oil gland keeps them dry, it'll start workin in 7-8 weeks. until then give them short swims. they don't know to come out before they get wet and chilled. so take them out after a few min, fluff em w/a towel and put them under the heat lamp to dry. they're do fine.

oh, and they're super cute!
