Hatchers Anonymous *Official Thread*

I have a large wooden home made bator, and it has 3 egg trays ... if I decided to load them incubator up with eggs I could easily put 200 +++ ... that's why I'm getting a smaller incubator so I won't be tempted to load'er up!

X200 that your little chickie is doing better this evening and if he/she isn't my heart goes out to you. I know that this thread is a lot of fun and joking around as it should be but I do want to thank you for bringing a little levity to it. It is a part of having and loving animals that some times you have to let go of them so that they will no longer suffer. It does suck but thank you for having the courage to do it if it is necessary.

to you and all of your chickies!

I completely agree. While we can all poke fun at this whole thing, we are only focusing upon the most positive aspects. Hatching...heck, just keeping any animals can lead to times of stress and heartache. That's the problem with pets (or livestock, depending on your purpose)...they never live as long as we'd like.

If we have not yet been where gryeyes is now, it is only a matter of time. By hatching, we owe these tiny creatures our stewardship. If we know that one is suffering, we must do the right, most humane thing. My heart goes out to you, hun, and to all who have lost a baby ( no matter how old)!

well thanks for the info about the meatl doing that , i knew of erosion and such of metal , but now i know i just need to stick with my deep freezer incubator im making lol , like i need one that big lol

Thank you for your prayers - they worked! I got home to find the little chick STANDING UP and moving around, albeit quite wobbly, in the incubator. It's semi-fluffed out, rather like someone who forgot and left the conditioner in his/her hair, with some bits standing up stiffly and others slicked back. I put it in the brooder with the other chicks and made a special gruel of chick starter and warm water, enough water to stand on the top of the wet mash, and it drank. The other chicks knock it over moving around but it gets back up!

I am SO relieved! I am absolutely, totally, suffused with relief. I was sure I would either find a dead chick or one I would have to finish off, somehow.

Again, thank you for being there and responding to my pain.

.... you may resume your normal program now..... thanks again!

Oh!! I'm so glad the chick is alright now!!!

I just put four more quail eggs in tonight. They are the ones my quail laid two days ago. These were my eggs from them, so OF Course, I had to put them in. It was only four eggs so it's not that bad, right?

I'm going to need a new lamp so I can keep my buttons separate from my other babies. So, didn't think of that one. I just use the 6.00 reflecters at Walmart, so no biggy there.

I'm going to be up to my eyeballs in Fluffy Cuteness.
