Hatchers Anonymous *Official Thread*

Linda, good to hear about your baby.

I just ordered 6+ silkie eggs for pickup tomorrow, have 15 breeder serama eggs in the bator, a ton of "test" serama eggs...and fighting not to hit the BIN button on any auctions or "test hatch" quail eggs. I'm not sure I'm allowed to have chickies, so were building basement rooms into large aviaries at this point. I think I have a problem

Well, I managed to score a MAGNIFICENT brooder unit which I'll have to pick up later with a friend with a van (the brooder is 8 ft long by 3 ft wide, by 2 ft high). Got permission from the land-lady to have a shed put on the property next to my back yard, so I have a place to PUT the brooder. I'll be able to get the two brooders out of the bathroom!! Wahooo!

The shed is a resin building, 8x10, and is being delivered Monday in boxes. It's a DIY shed, with windows, two inside shelves, and skylights, plus a floor. I have built COOPS so I can certainly put that shed together.

Oh, and I start my annual vacation on Saturday... 3.5 weeks worth. Time to whip this place into shape.

And I just set 4 call duck eggs. There are still other chicken eggs in four incubators...

No, no problem here. None whatsoever. *whistling innocently*

Just candled my Bantam eggs. Couldn't see anything cause my light wasn't bright enough. Gues I have to play the waiting game. It's gonna be the longest week and a half ever!!

YAY Linda!!! So glad to hear that the little one is making a comeback! I'll continue to send good growing vibes and prayers your way. Congrats on the new brooder, as well! Mine are still loving he stock tank, but they'd probably never want to leave one that spacious!

What a perfect time for your Vacay! Enjoy!!!

Linda, my heart sank when I read your post about the little one you thougth you might have to put down. I'm SO glad it ended well & that little chick pulled through! What a survivor! It's actually a good thing when the other bowl it down, I think...it's good exercise for them to get up & down! I'm glad it's doing well, and I think you're going to need to come up with a very special name for it!

I get to be a HATCHER!! YEAH!! My husband who is so electronically gifted is going to help me build a incubator this weekend... I read him the dangers of being a hatch a holic he knows I'm predisposed to addiction , AND HE IS STILL BUILDING ME ONE!! He said I will have to sell the chicks as some point but to go for it!! YES Now I need to start looking at eggs...hmmmmm what shall I start with....

as Gloria Carpenters voice drifts through my head...."And when the evening comes we smiles much of life ahead..We'll find a place where there's room to growAnd yes! We've only just begun"...

Wahoo! The bantam Barnevelder eggs I won at auction have arrived! I'll be setting them tomorrow!

Don't even have to "warm up" a 'bator, either, just clean it and reset the humidity from the last hatch! (Rocky/Rockette is the very last from the last batch in it.)

told miself that i would stop loding my bator (a sportman 1502) but every week i put 108 eggs in it and cant stop its beter then any drugs . It is a good thing that i live on 20 acers in the country becaus in adicted to chickens bad
