I am new to hatching baby chicks. We set 16 eggs under our broody hen (eggs were set 10/1, 10/2, 10/3) 3 have hatched today and still under mother hen. I read that they will be fine with out food for at least 3 days but I have no idea what to do! Should I put a light in their box away from the mother, should I give them feed or water? Someone Please Help

Just set 9 bantam Barnevelder eggs, all by themselves in one of the Octagon20 Advance EX 'bators. I considered adding some of my own eggs, "to fill it up," but actually resisted that urge quite successfully. (I also have egg customers, so needed to hold back enough for a dozen tomorrow.)

A night ago, I set 5 call duck eggs and two of my Cayuga eggs in one of the MiniAdvance EX 'bators.

No more empty incubators until November; the next hatch is due on 10/31.

Linda, you're a good egg (har har), putting your customers first! I just love how varied your "collection" is, too! So many variations...who can resist having more than one type of chicken! A year ago, I had absolutely no clue...

For all of you Brinsea users in the bunch, for the Octagon 20s, are you setting eggs in on their sides or fat end up? I'm seeing both ways, but thinking side might be better for smaller batches. Is this the difference? Just dreaming of Spring, is all...

I'm happy to hear about your broody hatch. so excited for you!!!
