hatchers hatcherers..... who's expecting peeps on septembre 24th or so... :)

Omgggg.... this morning tow were pipped.... at noon one hatched and the second I saw it zipping and hatching.... it was sooo cool.... unfortunately one has pipped but then died.... when I peeled the shell off he was a nice black chick with puffs on the head... I wanted this one soooo baddddd..... because I wanted him to be like the pullets that I got his egg from..... from the neighbor... I found his drowned in the yolk sac that was cut and all the yolk covered the chick.... poor thing... how did this happen.... why does this thing happen...
Her own egg hatched out first by the was and he is a nacked neck.... like his pappa... his genes are way strong... all of his chicks turn out to be nacked necks and BOYS.... the other is a whitish chick... now waiting for another one that pipped and the other two remaining are trying to pip but alive....

Oh that's sad by puff on his head do you mean vaulted skull? not sure why it happens like that sometimes i open egg once really wanted to know what happened after watching it shake for couple of days and then nothing its cord was wound it toe and ripped its navel. I just love naked necks there not many here in Australia I have never had any myself they just don't come up for sale. I have ended up with mostly Belgium's great colours tho not sure what going on with seabrights they were a no show but leaving eggs in til 27days. Seabright girls are having a holidays now boys have been seperated for two weeks.

I candled last night, and took out 5 more eggs. We're down to 30 eggs in the incubator, but there is a whole slew underneath the cochins now. I am going to candle their eggs today, and pull the most developed ones to put in the incubator and fill it back out.

I like your thinking don't think your hens would care if you did that. I still got two in bator they making a lot of noise lol its 1am here so typical of my chicks they always late night hatches. Hope you fill your bator today

Nacked neck gene is very common here.... and now 3 have hatched till now... and the remaining two pipped and are doing good.... good luck lazypifarm with your hatch... tomorrow I'll post pics..

The fourth hatched.... it's a black one.... yay..... I think with fluffs.... but didn't dry yet.... the 5th is trying to hatch..... resting now.... I think he'll be a black one too.... yayksss... too excited. ..

Getting ready to start lockdown this afternoon, Deciding how exactly I want to do it, I want the rubber matt down but when I do that it jacks up the humidity, I'm going to try it tho and if its too high I'll reverse and take it out...Wont add water unless I need it, so far Ive done a pretty much dry hatch and humidity stays within the range suggested, If I add any it spikes way to much..
babies were rocking around last night but not as much today, candled one and the shell has filled out more so maybe they are just crammped....

Ok, its oficial, We are in lockdown...Temp is holding steady as is humidity, I did have to add water after all, its holding at 57% and I am guessing by what I read here thats acceptable....Daughter thought I was nuts when she came in and I was talking to the bator until I told her to come watch, when I talk to them several of the eggs move...

Congrads majd glad you got another black one can't wait to see pics. Americanmom your daughter would think the same bout me I make chook noise bok bok bok and it works they cheep back and wiggle like mad rest assure you are the only one lol. Lazypifarm did you find some good one to go back in bator?

Alittle concerned today, woke up and checked the humidity and temp, the temp was at 96.9 and the Humidity was at 54%.... opened the bator long enough to add alittle water when raising the temp didnt raise the humidity, holding now at 61% humidity and 100.5 temp.
I know opening the bator at this point for a quick addition of water wont hurt the eggs as they havent started pipping but worried about it when they do.
