here is the review from last year

Rochester hatchery,
they shipped them on the 21,
it was +5c and warming,
I ordered 5 Brown leghorns, 30 broilers, and 2 extra,
zero dead at arrival,
3 died at it 2 days, for a mistake i did,
I will write it at the end,
2 at week 1, the same a mistake I did,

The customer review,
They are a really good hatchery,
If you live in Canada,
Order from them,

Now for the part one of why its my mistake,
I put them in the mud room that is not heated for the first night,
I moved them on the second day

part two,
Forgot to feed them a lot of food,

I will be better this year,

I ordered from Estes Hatchery, 20 Ameraucana, 3 Buff Cochin, 3 Buff Orpington, 3 Mottle Houdans, 3 Polish Cresttedd, and 3 Silver Phoenix. Order was placed on May 18th via the internet web site. Hatch date was 5/21/08, that is also the shipping date and the date the chicks arrived (all the way to NY, 2 days early!!) Estes sent 2 extra Ameraucana and 1 extra in each of the other categories. All the chicks arrived in perfect health, and all are perfectly healthy 24 hrs later. The company communicated with me via email with updates to my order. I couldn't be happier. Also, they were one of the only places not sold out with chicks available the very next week in many different breeds. A+++++

1. Name of hatchery -- Meyer Hatchery in OH

2. Shipping Date -- Supposed to be April 21

3. Date arrived --
May 5th

4. Average temperature around arrival -- outside? 50ish with rain

5. Number of chickens, ducks, geese, etc bought --
I only ordered 15 hatching eggs

6. Number dead at arrival -- 6 weren't fertile

7. Number dead within 2 days -- mentioned above

8. Number dead within a week -- 1 quit on me, leaving me with 8 possible chicks

9. Your customer review --
They delayed our order 2.5 weeks. I made my husband call to see why and they didn't answer the question. DH figured maybe it was because they were assorted cheap eggs, so he tried to trade for pure breed eggs, which weren't available either. He then tried to get chicks, which also weren't available. So, they must have been very behind in orders. Just with the fact that half weren't fertile, really irritated me and I probably won't be ordering again. I know they can't guarantee eggs, but almost half were junk. I waited 2.5 weeks for duds. I'll be locating local backyard hatcheries for my other chickens within a month or two here.

FWIW, even when you 'search' this topic, it's not flat out answers. You'd have to read x amount of threads before all the info's in one lump some. I like this 'list' idea.

9. Your customer review. Very happy, great service from a real person, reasonable shipping, prices, and healthy chicks, no cross breaks, bad legs, or any general health problems. One had serious crop issues or edema of some sort and died, but I don't think that was from their neglect, just nature. If I can get it there, I will.

Hoover's Hatchery, Rudd, Iowa
Hatched May 14th
Arrived May 15th
ordered 60 Cornish Cross's recv'd 65
20 Easter Eggers - recv'd 22
7 Silver Laced Wynadottes - recv'd 8
20 Turkeys BBB and White - recv'd 20
All alive and active upon arrival

Average temp was 50 degrees

Within two days lost 2 turkeys
Within the week lost 1 cornish and 1 of the EE's

Reveiw,
I have used this hatchery many times before and have always received excellant service. They ship promptly and being they are in Iowa and I am in Minnesota they get here quickly. Last years batch I only lost one chick and that was 1 week after arrival. The customer service is great and I will always go to them first. They do not carry the variety of the larger hatcheries but what they do carry has been fine and healthy birds. I would recommend them.

9. They had great customer service! They all arrived alive, they where all the right sex and breeds. The one rooster I order had leg problems at 1 week old, but is doing fine now. If I order again ( I am getting a incubator) I am going to order from them.
