Out of 25 pullets ordered only 1 turned out to be a boy. Yes, the Ameracaunas are some of the most beautiful around. I was supposed to get a mystery chick as well, but never did

Anyway, all my birds are super healthy and that flock is about 3 months old now!

i have used McMurray in the past and the outcome was mediocre at best. I had a problem with the chicks i got last february and called to ask for suggestions on what to do and got the impression that I was bothering them and taking up their time.
this is not meant to bash McMurray - just merely my personal experience with them.

Recently i got an order of 75 for myself and another 6 for a friend from Meyer Hatchery and have been quite pleased with the health and vigor of the chicks I received.
I spoke with these good folks on the phone prior to ordering from them and was impressed that they seem to go the extra mile in trying to help answer questions and problem solve.

All 81 of the chicks were shipped on time as promised and arrived in perfect condition. I have not lost any chicks and they will be 2 weeks old next Monday

Will Definately be ordering from them again !

I've ordered from McMurray for a couple years, last order of 90 in April. All 90 arrived, no issues with them at all. A few were really slow growing, I called and asked them if that breed grew slower then the rest, they assumed it was runts which they gave me full credit for. I have never had a problem with them and with them shipping clear up here you would expect some fatalities. THis is a poor time to order from them though, they're just about shut down for the year, very little available.

Do hatcheries just sell bantam silkies or standard??

I did TONS of research on hatcheries before I ordered my birds, and decided on Murray. I actually had 100% accuracy on my order, plus they sent me four extra chicks, just in case. The extra chicks were all roos, and when I called to ask about why they sent me four extra roos (because I didn't realize they sent extra chicks to cover possible mistakes) they actually REFUNDED me about $20 on my order!

I was completely new to chickens, and actually called them about three times with chick questions, etc. and every time the people were wonderful and very helpful. They are knowledgeable and friendly, and stand by their product.

I highly recommend them.

I ordered from McMurray this past spring, I am very pleased with them. All of the sexed pullets I ordered were spot on, and they even sent 4 extra chicks with my order. Those ended up being 3 pullets and 1 cockerel. They are beautiful and have the best personalities. They even helped me figure out who was who after I received my order. I did loose 1 poor baby to shipping stress, but they had sent me the 4 extras so I couldn't complain. Good luck!
