Hi!

I just ordered my first silkies from a hatchery. I LOVE the look of the show quality birds, but I am more interested in having pets.

I know hatchery quality are nowhere near show quality, but I'd love to see pics of people's hatchery silkies! I looked through the silkie thread, but it was too difficult to sort through the 6000+ pages.

Honestly - I'm just so excited about my chicks that I want to live vicariously through this thread. I have to wait until June....

Just a couple of mine. I have been very pleased with my hatchery silkies!

I have three hatchery Silkies from MPC. They’re not the greatest quality, but they’re super soft and really friendly!

They’re the three in the back, sorry it’s not the greatest photo, it’s the best I have of them. The buff ordinarily has a crest, she just got scalped by my other hens during introductions.

The friendliness and quirkiness is all that really matters to me. I think they are darling!

I've read people's descriptions of hatchery silkies as scraggly and ugly. I think the scraggliness gives 'em chatacter!

Did your flock eventually learn to get along with them?
