I’ve got some baby quail hatching and the first pipped at around 4pm yesterday, day 16. Got no movement and around 10pm I decided to open up the whole a little to see what the problem was. I hit a little patch of blood and Dried it and put some coconut oil on it. This morning, around 7:15, I saw no progress and decided to open it again on the other side of the hole. Same thing with a little blood. I know he still has to absorb everything and I’m a little worried since now he’s responding to me and peeping a lot, but looks too weak to do anything. Should I just wait it out or check the air cell to make sure everything is absorbed?

Is he making and yawning/chewing motions? I would wait. I think he's still absorbing yolk. They rest for quite a while before zipping.

I can’t really tell, I can go look.
I’m a little confused, last time I hatched quail I didn’t help at all and one was out an hour after externally pipping, the rest never had a problem like this

It looks like he’s absorbing it still, he’s still chirping a lot when I come up to him and make some tapping or whistling noises

I would leave him until this afternoon. Then check on him and see if there's still any veins. Put some coconut oil on the membrane. Some chicks are just a little slower.

I’m a little concerned right now with this timing. I opened the incubator a crack to reach and put more coconut oil on and right after another egg started shaking a bit and still is. Did I just vacuum it and is it suffocating?

No, they wobble like that to get into hatching position. It's a good sign. Quail wobble a lot.
