About 19 hours. I can’t really tell if he is yawning and I don’t wanna open the air pocket to see if he’s done absorbing because then I might have to help since it’ll be very difficult for him to push open the egg when he hatches
He was peeping a lot this morning when I first checked but I think that’s when I accidentally turned it the wrong side up putting it back, maybe I should take it out and put it the right way ?
I took him out and put more coconut oil on but I turned him back to the first position and he instantly got chirpy and more active
Is it possible for chicks to get stuck in a position in the egg that prevents them from being able to hatch out?
Yes they can get malpositioned. Yours seems to have pipped in the middle of the egg. Do you know if it ever internally pipped? It may be a bit malpositioned. If it never internally pipped because it couldn't get to the air cell this is the internal and external pip. I think the baby needs a lot more time either way. See how he's doing later tonight.
Ok thank you. I never checked for internal pip since the first thing I saw when I checked was the external. It’s head isn’t near the air pocket, it might have positioned in the wrong spot and couldn’t get out that’s why he pipped so soon?
Probably. He had to externally pip in order to breathe. What day is he on? I thought Coturnix usually hatch on day 18? He might be able to hatch on his own still, but it's going to take some time. If he doesn't progress in 24 hours dont worry about it because he needs longer.
