In a way I envy you- when you come home they will be ready to candle & pitch the bad ones!!!! I want to know what is going on with mine..... I keep making myself leave them alone!! "Don't touch the lid", "Don't touch the lid", "Don't touch the lid"...........
So now I can recheck the 3 ? eggs on Thurs & the GL/ Tolbunts...... but til then- only touch to turn (get to open lid then- on a turning grid- I just move the lever myself & open to make sure the eggs are ALL turned- some want to stand up tall)
I'll recandle everyone else on the 22, & then when they go for lockdown on the 27th.......... But I want to play with the chicks now
Only 6 of the GL/Tolbunts are developing- so I pitched them last night. I also double checked my taped Tolbunt egg..... he died. I grab a egg to compare, and was like..... hmmm floating baby & no veins- I'll check the other 10- those ten are going fine. So I pitched the 2 quiters. They were suppose to be recandled tonight- so they were done a night early.
When I rechecked my D'unncles (were 4 eggs- peeked at the others to see where they were to compare) only 2 are good- the one I questioned wasn't a surprise, but there was another one I thought was. Both were quiters from at least a few days ago.
I'll redo the silkie eggs over the weekend (did pitch 1 of the ? silkie eggs- other one was moving) I didn't feel like checking them after I found 2 (1 Tolbunt & 1 D'Unccle) that had quit with no reason I can think of. The other eggs pitched I had questioned if they were good- and my cracked egg I knew had a good chance of quiting.
I wonder if the a/c I got to cool drop the humidity is causing an issue- or if this is normal (I know Jenny always pitched a couple quiters on 2nd candling or Lockdown).
