Hatching Call Ducks

I candled today—at the very end of day three—and I saw signs of life in 3 out of the 4 eggs so far. The air cells seem to be settling as well as can be expected for shipped eggs on their sides.

Egg #4 is now clearly developing as well.

Unfortunately, 3/4 of the original set ended up quitting. The remaining egg is on day 22. I received a re-shipment of 8 eggs; 4 are developing as of yesterday night, though I suspect one will soon quit as it has a rolling air cell and seems developmentally behind.

I am locking down the remaining egg from the first set today. I would be lying if I said I wasn't rather nervous.

Waiting was difficult, but she made it out and is fluffing up nicely.

Next set also yielded one duckling. This was an incredibly fast and easy hatch. He externally pipped by himself and never seemed as weak or as at-risk as Ava, the last duckling, did.

Mixed. Ava, the first duck, is Blue Fawn in phenotype, but I'm not sure who the father is so I'm assuming she won't breed true.
