Hi all, well we have 6 ducklings.. other eggs were bad / unfertilised. I did have to assist one which was out of sync with rest and mum abandoned nest to care for chicks so it went cold.. it had externally pipped but was almost dead when i rescued it, warmed it up, helped it hatch and looked after it over night. Once it was running around i put it back with mum and siblings and she took it straight under her wings. All now doing well and diving around pond..at 5 days old 😍

Congrats on your/her hatch!

Are they in that pen all day? Bare compacted dirt is conducive to many problems like Podermatisis (bumblefoot) Obesity, malnutrition, arthritis, and many other problems related to lack of hygienic practices. I would put a thick layer of wood chips, leaves, and other decomposable soft organic matter that'll be easier on their feet and soak up more moisture.
