My husband and I are hatching our second batch of eggs so we are still pretty new to it. We had this chick pip and start the process of hatching last night and has been stuck at this point since 12 last night and it is now 8:30 in the morning. It has been crying and the egg has been moving, the humidity has been between 65-70 since we put them on lockdown.
Should I be concerned it hasn’t broke any more of the shell since last night?

Ok, so it hasn’t tried to zip yet?
i think it’s trying to but every time I’ve watched it move and try to do anything nothing happens. It’s beak will pole through the hole but that’s all, and it just keeps crying :(

Ok, can you see if the chick is doing a yawning motion?

Ok, then leave him alone for awhile. That means he is still absorbing the yolk. Sometimes it can take up to 12 hours to go from pip to zip. If she hasn’t started to zip in the next 5 hours, then you can come back here and let me know and I can help you further! ☺️
