Hatching - Day by Day - Chat thread!

Hey I had an egg hatch on day 25 so....... I think your good! Just dont get anctious and candle to soon!

3 pipped so far. My last hatch I had one pipped for near 30 hours before it finally hatched. I just candled mine again for second tine since lastnight. I did also with last hatch and it didn't effect the hatch outcome, unless I'm very lucky I don't see any harm in candling now. If your dates are right you should at least see some shadowing of movement like I see in mine with a pretty large air cell.

I started mine the evening of 6/30. Maybe I'll be fortunate and see some progress when I get home this afternoon!

Sorry about that hen, But Sclark is wrong, NO OFFENCE! But i really wouldn't candle yet i had done that and it killed all but one chick! Really they can hatch a few days late but wait until at least day 23, OK? Unless they smell or start leaking leave them be.

There might be other determining factors that allowed Sclarks to make it, who knows, but I am so inexperienced when it comes to this my candling technique would NOT benefit the chick and I know that. I don't want to handle them at all until I have pretty much given up and I haven't done that yet. I will wait til day 23 at the minimum. Maybe day 25. There is no odor or leaking or anything. I just hate to get my hopes up , but I'd really hate it if I killed a little chick that would have hatched late just because I couldnt wait it out. Thanks everybody for your comments. Very helpful. :)
