my duck egg started to hatch last night. Well I noticed a small crack I waited till 12 hours because I didn't think it was making any progress. I opened the shell and there was the baby duck breathing it was all bloody I think it was still attached to the yolk . Are you suppose to take the whole shell of the duckling? Are you suppose to leave it in the incubator when it hatches its about 62 degrese right now I opened it outside of the incubator in the brooder. I'm pretty sure its dead now, any help?

I dont know much about hatching duck eggs, but I have hatched alot of chicken eggs, I think you helped it out to soon, should of left it alone, going by chicken eggs, they can take up to 24 hrs to hatch. Dont help anymore in till it has pipped at least 24hrs or someone that knows more than me can tell you what to do...

Mine started cracking the eggs last night too and this morning we have one baby duck with another on the way. I do agree that it's best to leave them alone. I think they have to move around in their shell a lot before they can hatch. My chicken eggs have taken 24+ hours to hatch and they turned out beautiful.
