Hatching Eggs - Journal

Pics
Day 25 & 26!

Here’s a video of the call duck (again with the egg laying flat, video from underneath)
I assume still no internal pip?

It’s moving around a ton in there, you would think it would’ve piped by now with that dancing lol

Nothing new on my egg. It barely moves compared to the call egg though, and no inside movement. The air sac does seem small too, not sure if I should be concerned about that. Attached a photo of it.

Also I took the auto turner out last night

Okay I’m thinking it might be an internal pip. I just candled with the egg vertical instead of horizontal and it looks like an obvious tent shape against the side

Can you hear the baby? You don’t always, but it’s a sure sign of internal pip.
I’m still not sure, usually it’s a sharper / thinner shape. You definitely should see it / hear it soon with all that shadowing.

I don’t hear it :(
I’ll give it some more hours and check again! It’s just crazy with all that movement and pushing on the membrane to the air sac that it hasn’t broke through yet!

Day 26 & 27

Still nothing :/
The call duck has yet to internally pip from what I can tell and I don’t hear anything inside. I haven’t noticed any movement from my egg

Day 27 & 28

Still nothing that I can tell. Both are still alive though

For the call egg, there is a little pinkish mark at the top of the shadow, not sure if that’s the bill? But I don’t hear any peeping or feel anything.

My egg… boy. I royally screwed up. I thought forsure it was dead. No movement for the last few days, no movement inside the egg, couldn’t see any veins while candling. So I decided today we could open it to see what it looked like. I put a hole in the air cell just incase it was alive (I was confident it wasn’t though).

Of course… it was alive. Quickly put into the incubator with Vaseline and I upped the humidity a bit.

I’m feeling disheartened and disappointed in myself, to be honest. But can’t change it now, so just gotta hope for the best.

Could you get a candling photo of the pinkish mark on your call egg?

Also a photo of your other duck egg. Are they internally pipped?? Reapply the Vaseline when needed so that membrane doesn’t dry out. You could also put plastic wrap over the hole you made and poke a smaller safety hole through the wrap.

Very odd that they are this behind, but it’s not the worst thing. They still have a chance. Are you certain your temperature has been accurate?
