Hatching Eggs - Journal

Pics
Update:

Still no hatch. But both eggs are alive. The eggs wiggle at times. No internal shadowing though.

Not sure if I should try helping or let it ride out and see what happens. Were 1-2 days past hatch

Edit: do they hatch normally in 23 or 26 days? I thought 23 but when I was searching just now I keep seeing 26. It’s day ~25 today. So maybe everything is okay.

Do you have a photo? If the veins are thin like a hair that is closer to hatching

It looks like a few bigger ones still.
I did not make a hole in the second egg. This one has had far less movement so I decided to go with this one to see.

I don’t know about Call ducks, but regular ducks hatch on day 28

Do you know if it has internally pipped? From what I can tell it doesn’t look ready yet. I wouldn’t open it any further and keep it moist.
It has not. I’ll leave it alone!

With the last one when we did this it ended up being upside down and passed, so I think I’m getting nervous since it’s a few days overdue.

Your other egg hasn’t internally pip either?
I sure wish I could help but Call eggs are a mystery to me. I’ve never tried hatching them.

I do wonder if it is backwards again, and that’s why no internal pip. Have you carefully inspected the shell for any bruising which might indicate it is trying to pip in the wrong place? But maybe call bills are too small to bruise the shell..

It has not, although it’s been a little while since I checked. So I’ll check again. It wiggles a ton though. Zero internal shadowing though.

Idk what the chances are they both are having issues, but jeez.

The temp and humidity on the incubator should be correct. I have a second thermometer inside as well.

Any tips on how to locate the head? I still haven’t figured it out and can’t find it in the egg I opened.

If it’s supposed to be obvious… well we may have another upside down baby

No signs of bruising on either egg. I’ve felt and listened to see if I could hear or feel it tapping somewhere but I couldn’t.

I thought I heard the one I opened making noise but I could be imagining it at this point lol
