Sah, I forgot to mention yesterday, you can use chain link with a roof over it for open air pens with no coop like building if you back the chainlink with hardwarecloth or another small opening wire to keep raccoon hands from reaching in. Recommended to place it along the sides where the roosts are and at the ground level coming up roughly 2 feet.

that's what I used for mine for a very long time, works well!

Can we see a pic of the hatcher? Is it an incubator turned hatcher? Or did you build it?
Hatching baskets..... Let me preface this with the size of my hatcher. Someone was going to throw this out with other stuff I saved. I got a plywood box about 2ft tall, 3ft long and 2ft wide. So a good size hatcher. I needed a way to keep the breeds separated too. This was NOT my idea.... I got it from another byc'er... the smartest people in the WORLD  Have some that are divided in to 4 sections, some 3 sections but most are divided in half or full sized. I can get 4 baskets on each level and can stack them 3 tall in the hatcher. I have hatched 120 chicks at one time with these baskets :p not going to do that AGAIN :he I got these at one of the dollar type stores Put some shelf liner (also from the dollar store) to prevent chicks from slipping on the plastic. I also got some cookie cooling racks at the dollar store, 2 were in a pack. They fit the top perfect to keep the chicks from jumping out. I attached them with handy dandy zip ties. Can we see a pics of your hatcher? Here they are in action and some with the dividers in them. I just attached them with old Telephone wire. BTW I hatch in stryrofoam egg cartons all the time now, unless there is one with a weird air cell.
Wow that's nice! :thumbsup
