Speaking of the kitchen -- after swearing not two months ago never to have more chicks in the kitchen, I just went and hauled in my big brooder cage yesterday and got it all set up for the little ones. They'll need it by next weekend at the latest -- they're growing so fast! And as lovely as the past few days have been (50s! What's it doing being 55 in January???) it's not going to stay anything like that warm, and they are far too little to go out in the barn yet, even with heat lamps.

So baby chicks with breakfast again, yay! And ugh. It took me two days to clean out all the dust last time...

Love blue egg layers and especially looking forward to having this cool breed. I've got some of those coming my way this spring. Can't wait.

Going for my second cup! Love those kcups. Especially when I have extracto's Eleven in whole bean with the custom cup for the brewer! We have a local place that roasts every few days and their coffee is AMAZING!!!! I think in the next backward swap I'm going to offer a gourmet basket with a pound of their whole bean, jam and chutney, homemade pickles goodness and maybe some cured meat like finochionna or chorizo.
