I know!!! Thanks guys. I'm still not out of the woods with them in my mind as there is still obvious respiratory stuff going on. I'll find out about Newcastle and the necropsy today or tomorrow. I'm also still a little miffed about them being sick at all. I know there are SO many variables but I guess I just feel that if you ship very healthy birds, they shouldn't get sick when in transit for only 30 hours. But more than anything I'm just EXTREMELY relieved that it's not MG!!!!! I was pretty positive it wasn't AI but I guess you can never know until you test! Man I'm SUPER relieved. That's a huge burden lifted. It figures that I actually have an outdoor quarantine area that's no where near my other flocks but now it's just TOO cold to let them go outside!

Going to send you a PM Candace~

That is fantastic news.

Y'all were a chatty bunch today, no way to catch back up on all of those pages.

Its NOT...... MG, MS, or AI!!!!!!!

They are pretty amazing in their ability to escape! Just when I thought I had all there sneaky spots patched and blocked...I borrowed a buck and they showed me how useless my efforts really were!

I just had a customer contact me regarding chicks sold to her early in the fall, these were sold straight run as they were from hatched eggs. 5 of the 8 turned out to be roos. Does anyone have a "canned" response for this when they are contacted? I mean, its obviously more than 50% but I have no control over these things.

What kind of chickens are they?
I've been lucky and never had anyone complain... If I can't sex sex by color or comb(I vent sex quail and feather sex chicks, but I am not always right!) I make it clear that I am guessing- or have no idea. I ha someone last weekend buy A&M quail, and I find them near impossible until I catch them crowing or laying, even with vent sexing... And I vent checked them in front of the customers and said, I THINK these are right, but if it turns out I am wrong, come back, buy more, and I will discount you. That being said, I don't know what I would say to people who buy chicks as a straight run, and still call later to inform me of a bad roo/hen ratio. Maybe "I will hatch you out more and you can try again?!"

what kinda goats do you have?

I guess I should be thrilled that my goats are lazy and don't seem to know that they can break out. I bought two goats this past fall that I had for less than 24 hours. they jumped the fence and I haven't seen them since. I got them from a herd that had had very little (none) human contact and they didn't know that humans were food providers and givers of animal crackers yet. I was so bummed, but learned my lesson. my fences are way too short for goats who know they can jump.

hopefully mine will never figure it out.

They were shipped FBCM eggs. I couldn't keep the chicks in stock for awhile and am finally growing out some of my own but they are VERY young. I don't know how to vent sex and have seen articles on feather sexing however don't even do that for customers as I don't want it coming back to bite me. Funny thing is she paid for 6 but I gave her the last 2 as they were the only two day olds at the time. Now its a complaint on the ratio of boys to girls

I'll try to nicely let her know that I don't control such things, lol.
