How cold is too cold to ship juv. chickens?? It is 20 degrees her now, will reach 35 tomorrow. Shipping address will be mid 30's tomorrow and low 20's tomorrow night.

What most dont realize is there is a min and max the USPS is suppose to follow for shipping. Nothing under 35 and nothing over 85.

We wont ship adult geese in temps over 80, and prefer 75 or less

Hi everybody! My back's really twinge-y tonight and I'm still buried in paperwork

but I wanted to jump on and shout hello. Got the babies all moved downstairs today and into the big brooder. They're hopping all over the place and enjoying the extra room

I'll probably be mostly lurking for the next few days still till I get through all this junk, but I wanted to say thank you so much to everyone on this thread, especially to kraftyladies, madamwlf, wvstrutting, msztre, babymakes6, CPL, and KYTinpusher for all the work she does keeping this all in order. You guys are so amazing! It's ever so much nicer slogging through nasty ol' paperwork with happy chicks chirping in the background

Thanks, CelticOaksFarm! It's a perennial thing, unfortunately -- I wrecked it years ago working as a CNA. Some days it doesn't bother me at all, most days it bothers me a little, every once in a while it gets really ucky. C'est la vie!

I called a friend who is a postmaster today and she made calls to everyone she knew and no one knew the rule on shipping. She said that they all thought there was a max and min. but they just didn't know what is was. Serama are very sensitive to temperature changes and I'm worried about shipping as cold as it's going to be. I don't know how warm a 72 hour heat pack will keep them. They have never been in any area below 40 degrees.

I'm feeling the same thing. It's starting to sleet here and that can not be a good sign. This will be my first time shipping and I would be devastated if they were DOA....Thanks for the advice.
