Hi folks. I have a question. Since I will be waiting a really long time to join the swap (will be a while before mine are laying and breeding, etc) I figured I would spend the time trying to understand all the rules. =)

So, if someone (or someones) could help me out with this requirement I'd appreciate it.

EGGS MUST BE PUREBRED! 1st Offer other offers can be for mixed Does this mean they have to be the offspring of 2 of the same variety within a breed? For instance, if someone bred a buff brahma to a light brahma, would that still be considered purebred, since they are both brahmas, and the light and buff are simply *varieties* within the breed itself? Do they have to be purebred according to the APA SOP? For instance, would gold laced brahmas be considered "purebred" even though they are not APA recognized?

Thanks. =)

I think you've got it exactly (if I understand it correctly). I'm new to swapping, but have been lurking for a while. Offspring of 2 varieties within a breed can be offered, but I don't think they can be listed first as a purebred option. Please someone chime in if I am wrong! :)

I think breeding 2 different colors of one variety wouldn't be considered pure breed. Like I wouldn't take a wheaton marans and breed it to a black copper marans. It wouldn't produce an acceptable color. Wheaton to wheaton would. If you breed brahmas then it should be with like colors unless you are working on a project color. Just the way I see it.

So I had 4 sets of eggs come the same day. 3 from swaps and 1 from an auction. So far I have had 1 egg from each hatch. What are the odds? I have 1 bantam cochin from wayne813 hatch. 1 maran from crfarms and 1 bantam cochin from pintopasofinos, and 1 porcelain silkie from the auction. Some pics:

Porcelain Silkie:

That's unfortunate because all I will have are Gold Laced Brahmas and Norwegian Jaerhons...so if the Brahma aren't considered purebred - I'll have to stick with the Jaerhons for trading, and I don't know that I'll get a cockerel out of these eggs.

I appreciate the information, though....ty for answering me. :]

Projects can offered, mixes can be offered....as long as a pure breed is offered 1st.
I am sure if you offer those GL Brahmas someone will jump on them.

That is the beauty of this swap, if you don't have eggs to offer you can always offer pp. In your case you could offer pp as your first offer and the Brahmas as the second offer.
