I just sent three lambs to freezer camp this week. And replaced them with bottle calves. Next year it's baby beef for the freezer!

I will remember to watch Ideals specials. They are my go-to place to order hatchery birds. But no bantams and no duckkies.

Last year DH sent our two rams to auction because they had a tendency towards parrot-mouth.  He didn't think our young ram was old enough to take care of things this year.  The twin lambs born last night proved him otherwise.  Hmmmm, last year we had about 16 lambs born, not sure I'm ready for an explosion this year.  Of course, last year was complicated by a bottle lamb.

I'm so glad my DH doesn't care.  Heck, I catch him cruising CL looking at chickens and stuff.  He's an enabler.  He's the reason I have the NN Easter eggers now.

This is my DH to the nth degree!

see and 30 is really only 15 because half are male and don't count with chicken math!

Half don't count anyway being they are bantams.  Less space.  Even better!!!

I swear the men in my family are frickin' idiots! I asked a simple thing of DS. I even paid him to do it. I needed a gate for another chicken run.

I went to HD and bought everything I needed.  I designed/built the first gate, DH built the next 13.  The gates he originally built were lower than my head (F%&*(*&*) and had so many sharp daggers sticking out (F$*^*($^%^)

Ah, I'm jealous. I had to give up my flock a couple years ago for health reasons. Now I buy weanlings and raise them out. I get the lambs wool and meat, and sell all the ones I don't need. But I miss the lambs. I've even taken bottle lambs to work with me! But, no more breeding anything bigger than a chicken or rabbit for me anymore!

Today started as a rather bad day for me. A week ago I hatched a Rhodebar rooster chick. My only one. Problem was it wasn't using one of its legs. I felt a knot on the leg joint. So I thought I would give it time and see. Nope, not using it. So I put him down this morning.

I had a juvie tolbunt polish rooster in with other juvies. I'm a complete believer now in raising crested breeds with crested breeds only. The other birds always pecked his crest out and I am assuming gave him some brain damage. I was going to put him down this morning too but he beat me to it. Found him dead in the coop this morning.

By far the worse for me was my Blue Silver Fox Doe. Skittish as heck. 3 weeks ago I came home to find she could not use her back legs. She was still eating and drinking. Was a lot more lovable now but couldn't be a bunny. I gave her time hoping she would get better but it never happened. So I put her down this morning too.
