We started 2 years ago with 4 mutt chickens (phineas, ferb, candice, and perry).  We still have ferb and perry(who turned out to be a hen) and Candice who is now Jeremy because he turned out to be a rooster.  We moved from a quiet suburban neighborhood to a 6 acre farm and it has just boomed.  Now we are selling chicks, chickens, hatching eggs, eggs to eat and we just processed our first chickens to eat a few weeks ago.  It is amazing what we have come from in just 2 years.  

Ha! Those are good names. My first hens are Ryan and Crystal after power rangers and Logan after Xmen. I have a 6 year old boy. ( though I admit I was rooting for Logan cause who doesn't love Wolverine)

Almost 3 years ago in March I got my very first chickens and I actually still have one of those girls. She's my head hen. Back then if someone had told me I would have 7 coops and looking to add 2 more, I would have thought them crazy. But here I am, 7 coops later. I'm shipping eggs and birds all over the US. I've spent more money in this hobby then I could ever imagine. I never knew there were so many breeds and how much fun they could be. And I never knew what awesome people poultry folks could be!! I love this hobby!

Madam, after listening to NPR this morning and finding out the football team is named after the Edger Allen Poe Raven, I have to ask...
which one is your farm named after?
Or is it just a happy coincidence?

I like some cartoons. I get sick of them though, because from 8am til about 9pm, that's all I get to watch, then the boyfriend might put on something stupid when he gets home. If I try to watch "big people tv", either the kids will change it on me or G will, always back to cartoons!!!!!!!! I told everyone that when we move, I am getting my very own freaking tv and NOBODY but myself can watch it. I don't care if it's a 5" screen in black and white, it'll be mine and only mine!

Best thing we did was cancel paid tv service. Now the tv is on super rarely. Usually the kiddos watch movies if anything.

Same thing here. The kids watch streaming netflix cause we don't have cable here. Too expensive. Then hubby puts on classical or rerun movies.

Yup. We don't have cable or Internet here. I don't think there is such thing as high speed service around here, but it would be nice to be able to get on a real computer and get on the net, opposed to just my phone. Only can get service on my phone in three spots in the house too haha.
Had a blue Dutch hatch today... Can wait until the buff leghorns finally break out of their eggs!

I just found out yesterday that DSL is available at our house, so we're finally getting hi-speed Internet! Until now, the DSL line has literally ended 2 addresses away from mine. I'm thrilled. It gets installed Friday!!! Hopefully it will be fast enough to stream netflix, we haven't been able to do that since we moved out here.

We still have Directv, but anything we watch is recorded AND the tvs are password protected so the kids can't veg out.

I noticed that the more TV my kids watched the less respectful their attitudes were, so we decided to limit TV and voila! better attitudes!
