I went to the feed store today, just to see if they have chicks yet. They had Nature Wise chick feed for 50% off!!!! I cleaned out my measly balance and bought 3.

I need some medical advice :( :( I am stressing out.
Yesterday my son got a puncture wound in the chicken coop from some buried chain link sticking up. I cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide and put neosporin on it. This morning it was red but not bad and I cleaned it, applied more neosporin an covered it. After I picked him up from school he was tired and feel asleep. I woke him up and realized he had a fever. I couldn't get ahold of my husband since it is a busy day at work, and we don't have insurance or any money so I didn't take him to the dr, against my guy feeling. His foot is pretty red and swollen now. I don't know if the fever and headache was connected or not, but I got the fever down. I called the nurse and she said I'd have to have him looked at, if it got worst to go to the ER, or wait until office hours tomorrow.
Should I bother waiting? This is how it looks now, after a warm bath and neosporin

The ER is a hour away, and I don't know if I am just overreacting and having a panic attack. I don't have anyone locally I could talk to or look at it for me.
I should mention I have gotten a puncture wound or two this exact way and never had any redness like that

I am not a medical professional, but I would get him to the ER. Is he current on his Tetnis shots? Puncture wounds can be a danger there.

Mark the edge of the red so you can see if it is spreading. If it does get any bigger I would take him to the ER. It may be nothing but better safe then sorry.

Ok....so I have a big problem.

I bought another incubator last weekend under the guise of returning my cheap one that doesn't keep temperature (which now miraculously seems to). So, the old incubator "to be returned" is in lockdown. The incubator arrives tomorrow and it's already full to the max. I think this is an addiction and I blame all of you for being terrible, evil enablers.

It gets even better. Last year I built a homemade bator from an old cooler sitting in the garage. I wanted a few chickens, after a long hiatus, so I could have fresh eggs again. Within a month I had built another bator to use as a hatcher and shortly after that I bought a used Sportsman off of Craigslist. I think my bators have only stopped for a week after the NYD hatch a long. Went from 0 birds last July to 80+, have chicks hatching as we speak and tomorrow I am going to visit COF to pick up my Bresse babies that arrived in the mailed today. Talk about enablers....sheeessshhh.
