Good Morning Everyone!!
Sorry to hear about the lost Rooster. I have been around pigs since I was a little girl and have seen them do awful things. I refuse to get around them.
I had a peacock that had respiratory issues. Not severe, but did not want to get to that point. I used the vet RX also but it didn't help. Someone on her told me to get Tylan200 and give him a half a cc. One shot was all it took. He was better by afternoon.

Hubby found my breed list last night.... Ask if it was my wish list. About had a stroke when I admitted it was the what I have or what is on the way list.

I have been banned from swapping until he builds more coops for what is or will be here. Everything I have now has nice pens and runs but I will run out quickly once spring gets here.

It didn't help my cause much when he found out that when we were in town getting feed, I was so involved with what the chickens needed I forgot we needed to go to the grocery store. Poor guy had half a bag of stale potato chips and a package of peanut butter crackers for supper.

So, since I had today off, I'm cleaning house, baking bread and cookies and planning a nice meal for him tonight. Guess I need to spend a little more time spoiling my hubby instead of the chickens... Hope everyone has a great day.......
Mine only complained that we had all these chickens and no eggs that he could eat...
So for Valentines day... He got a Cuckoo Maran Hen, Another RIR Hen, a Comet Hen, and a White Leghorn Hen...... He is now happy. He ate eggs from them for breakfast yesterday.

I need someone to loan me their pen building spouse!

I have been trying to build them by myself and they turn out a little rough around the edges!

Mine would easily be caught by leaving a trail of those Valentine day conversation hearts. He buys a case after v-day every year... Loves them.

I spent part of yesterday begining the clean out process (hubby has been using it for storing lumber, etc.) on the original chicken coop on our place. DH finally decided that building that has been sitting there basically unused for 16 years would be the ideal place for me to put my laying flock or the intermediates. This chicken coop is approximately 20'X15' on the floor, withh a built-in latchable storage area. It has three roosts the 20 foot length above a tongue and groove elevated poop deck which has laying boxes underneath that. This leaves a 2 1/2 foot area underneath the roosts/nesting boxes for usable floor space. There are three window in the front that are 48" X 36" for ventilation. The roof height in the front is about 9 feet and slopes to 6 feet in the back. I have been trying to get DH to let me use it for years. "No it is too close to the house." All I have to do to get it usable is clean it out, rescreen the windows, block the front pop door, add one to back and put run in the back. I will probably separate this into a broody/brooder area and decide about the rest later.

How many chickens will this be good for?

Now that it is almost after noon here, I can finally say "Good Morning."

It took me a while to catch up with y'all. The snow is starting to melt, although I still have over two feet in some places in my yard. I am feeling a touch of spring fever though

My question of the day: Do you recommend the EcoGlow Booders? I keep toying with the idea of getting one. For now, I have plastic totes that I use for brooders, and clip on shop-lights for heat. Last year, I adjusted the temperature by changing the wattage and eventually removing the light all together.
