Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

I didn't know about the gift option with pp either but someone mentioned it on the thread so I used it for the first time a couple of days ago. I've paid for other purchases to BYCers before without using the gift option and no seller has ever asked me to pay for the pp fee. I think it is a courtesy thing. I would not have thought of sending the pp as a gift myself because it really isn't a gift to the recipient. We swap goods on the thread and the pp IMO is really a payment in exchange for the eggs we claimed. If I offer pp again, I would specify $XX pp or $XX pp plus fee. The $XX pp means I may or may not pay for the fee whereas the $XX pp plus fee means I will be paying for the fee.
By the way, I just created an account on USPS dot com. I am going to save money on shipping from now on. Who knew I was going to learn about shipping options on BYC?

Actually you kinda are supposed to send it as a gift for the swap thread. Now as for sending payment for purchases you make the seller gets the fee.

"kinda are supposed to" is not the same as "are supposed to." I don't think the current rules specifically state that you are supposed to. If it did, then I misread. If the thread is allowed to continue, perhaps this could be clarified in the rules.

But if the minimum amount allowed is $15 and you send $15 not as a gift then you actually aren't following the rules for the minimum amount. If that makes sense.

It has taken me a while, but I'm finally figuring out which areas will fly the eggs direct to MT, so I get them in 2 days... Atlanta is one for sure. Another is Dallas. I wonder if we all went to our respective postmasters if we could get lists of which cities fly packages in to nearby...

I've also had scrambled eggs from all over, regardless of whether they were marked as eggs, just fragile, or not at all (though these have been the worst for me). I think it really depends on the hands and machines the eggs meet along the way =/

How about marking the box as "Non-Machineable"?

But the sender did spend a minimum of $15 on pp. It can be viewed either way.
Actually if the receiver of the money has a PP card, or if they use that money to pay for other things through pp they don't get charged a fee. The fee is charged if you transfer the money to a bank account or something like that. So really whether or not the fee is incurred is all dependent on what the receiver chooses to do with the money, therefore imo should not be the responsibility of the sender. My 2 cents.

That is logical.

I am learning so many things on this thread. I use pp just a few times a year, and has never recieved a pp payment so I know nothing about a pp card. Thanks for the info. You've inspired me to read up on pp and it's services.

But you are still not getting the point. If you don't send it as a gift then you are not meeting the guidelines of actually sending the minimum. I don't know how to explain it better. But it seems it is starting to get out of hand so I will leave it up to Rach on what she thinks is fair cause it is her swap thread.
