I'm so jealous of everyone with turkeys and ducks and geese. We aren't zoned for it and I'm already pushing my luck with the number of coops so I dare not add them.

Has anyone set up a hovabator 1602N for use as a designated hatcher? I finally have a stable temp reading (calibrated thermometer/hygrometer) and I'm wondering if it's okay where it is or if I should futz with it some more.. 102.0 degrees max and 101.7 is the minimum that it's going between. Is this okay? Too high? Eggs will be hatched upright in pulp cartons if that makes a difference..

Too high. I would try between 99 and 100 optimally. The cartons should be fine. :)

I have heard with a still air that up to 102 is fine....anyone else?

Oh my gosh, you guys are so hard to keep up with between potato leek soup prep and oatmeal cake.. it's cooking/baking day and there were so many posts I wanted to comment on.. my heart goes out to those who've lost children. It is so hard on a family and the pain is unbearable sometimes. I haven't lost any personally, but our family has so I understand... :hugs

What's this about side swaps being allowed?
