Sigh.
It looks like I won't be having buff leghorns, or at least not without trying again.
I hatched 12 chicks, right now I have 7 left. 5 are cockerels. One of the two pullets is acting sick, all the other chicks I have lost where pullets too. The coxkerels seem really healthy.I don't want to keep just a pair.

OMG too weird
Well, I thought Rachael was going to be putting up a picture for you all to see, but since she hasn't I will!

Look what we are getting!

There are 5 pens on each side WITH 4x12x6 foot high dog kennels attached to each side, with free delivery as well! I cannot WAIT!!!

Ours looks like this, but it has 10 pens instead of 12 and red trim around each door. There are pens inside as well (4x4) with a center walkway.

That is WAY COOL!!!!! even better than a chicken!!!!! (I dreamt about purple chickens last night so that's really sayin' something)
Thank you, I wish I knew. He is the reason I found BYC. I bought him as a "Bantam Americauna" from McMurray Hatcheries. I knew he didn't look anything like the "Americaunas" I had raised for 20 years, so I came here looking for what he was. I found out... he's probably an EE Mutt Bantam - but he sure is beautiful. I will be keeping him and maybe making bantam blue egg laying mutts - hopefully with his coloring! His brother looks similar to a Lemon Blue Splash OEG.. but green legs and rose combed.
well he's gorgeous!!! I just love that coloring no matter what he is!

Good morning!!!

I love the USPS...sent profti her eggs, and it says they left the sorting on 2/22 with an expected delivery date of 2/21....guess they are getting into time travel

Yea, I'm pretty upset with the darned USPS right now. I mailed out eggs to caj on 02/19. The tracking shows accepted 02/19, left the BR sort facility on 02/20 (usually leaves there just after midnight), then nothing. Zip, zero, zilch. I'm really nervous for the poor potential chickies. They are being sent to her work address. I'm praying they are delivered today and just haven't been scanned.

Caj- is your work location open on Sat?

No, it isn't. Fingers crossed they arrive today. The last several I have sent/received haven't had any updates whatsoever. What use is tracking if they don't give you anything to track? I think it is because everything has "free" tracking now.

I thought in the US standard, CCL combs where supposed to be upright?

Both the British and soon to be US SOP will call for straight upright combs for the Rooster, but flopped over is fine for the hens. Point deductions taken for combs with folds, slanted diagonally front to back, and large combs that extend beyond the front the beak. Disqualifications: Bent over comb, side spurs, thumb marks.
The utility lines (GFF line A) that were imported from the UK had floppy combs, but I thought the new lines had been corrected...too bad if the new ones are still floppy.

This is what my rooster's comb looks like.
