Well, I thought Rachael was going to be putting up a picture for you all to see, but since she hasn't I will!
Look what we are getting! There are 5 pens on each side WITH 4x12x6 foot high dog kennels attached to each side, with free delivery as well! I cannot WAIT!!!
Ours looks like this, but it has 10 pens instead of 12 and red trim around each door. There are pens inside as well (4x4) with a center walkway.

I don't. A rooster shouldn't have floppy combs at all.Awwww I think they are adorable hahaha
I love the USPS...sent profti her eggs, and it says they left the sorting on 2/22 with an expected delivery date of 2/21....guess they are getting into time travel
Sigh.
It looks like I won't be having buff leghorns, or at least not without trying again.
I hatched 12 chicks, right now I have 7 left. 5 are cockerels. One of the two pullets is acting sick, all the other chicks I have lost where pullets too. The coxkerels seem really healthy.I don't want to keep just a pair.
Chickie from last night is still kickin'. COF said she thought it looked about a half a day undercooked, so I took ProfTi's advice and wrapped it in damp paper towel. I woke up this morning and it still looks strong. I will probably wait until this evening to take it out of the egg, or should I just see if it can do this on its own?
I didn't wait for your reply and took a peak. The vessels have receded, but there is not exactly yolk but a very large connection where the umbilicus is. I think I need to wait a bit longer. Put him back into the shell and wrapped the paper firmly around him. He's not happy about the situation, but I think he's gonna make it. I'll check again this evening like you said.Good! They can go back and get all those late chickies delivered on time!
Wait... it doesn't work that way? Why not?
That's such a bummer, Sah! Fingers crossed for your sick pullet!![]()
That's wonderful! Yeah, the damp paper towel helps keep the membrane moist and soft -- easier for the chick to get out of. You should see the veins getting smaller and smaller as the chick draws the blood into itself. When they're drained, she should be ready to hatchHelping her out is a judgement call, but if it were my chick I'd give her till evening and then, so long as the veins are emptied and she hadn't made it out by herself yet, I'd probably remove some of the membrane for her and let her wiggle her way out from there.
