Mine has. I need to grow out chicks first. And it's funny but someone contacted me about hatching some Legbars for them so I guess I'll be turning it on to hatch some.

Just wanted to run through and say hello! Hope everyone's day has been a good one. I got my GFM Title...lol Oh and pink eye... Just an FYI, Pink eye helps you to forget that you want a smoke really bad. I have eggs going out for people tomorrow. I will PM and Post DC#'s as soon as my this rhino stops jumping on my face. (might have to crack out the codine)

Congrats on another day smoke free!! Sorry about the pink eye... A week after my son started preschool this past August, his first time going to school/daycare/anything, our whole house got pink eye. It was awesome

here I am trying to go through the person I got my eggs from and find another breeder...

Ideal has a lot of different kinds of leghorns. I ordered the Rare leghorn assortment. They were out of stock but since I only wanted a few they were able to squeeze my order in. Personally I find it hard to believe that they are rare when a hatchery is offering them. But I digress.

I got a white leghorn last year at the feed store on a whim last spring and I have discovered that I like them. My plan is to see who lays the best and doesn't quit in the winter and cross them with my SBELs to make some colorful EEs that lay bigger and more eggs. I'm thinking about "investing" in some production blacks pullets (a barred bird that lays white eggs) and make sex-link EEs that lay pastel eggs.

I was over on the legbar thread reading up. I received a second batch of girls in early Nov and about 1/2 are uncrested. Looks like if I grow out one of the black Marans boys I can put them over the uncrested girls and get black sex link chicks. The resulting pullets should lay green eggs. A very interesting solution in what to do with my uncrested ladies.

You should get Olive Eggers from that cross.

Just saw that strombergs sells "show quality" buff leghorns... Do you think they are actually good quality? Didn't know any hatcheries claimed to have "SQ"

Ok so.... did anyone send me a box of eggs this week other than Roxannemc, Papa brooder, or innerwolfbatikranch?
There is 2 boxes at my old PO an hour away... I know what one of them is, but don't know about the other???
Or did anyone receive a DC# and expecting eggs from me that has not received them and maybe had my old address on the paypal return label? I will find out the mystery tomorrow...but will wonder until then!!!

Okay, the day old bullies have been moved to the 3-week-old brooder in the garage. No heat lamp out there, and the ecoglow is in the house with the leghorn babies. I do have a shoe-boxed size Rubbermaid set on top of a seedling heat mat. I know that that was going to be warm enough for the bigger ones, I guess we'll see if it's enough for the day-olds in there with them. To be honest I wouldn't be too broken hearted if the bullies are too stupid to cuddle up with the bigger birds, I had no idea Barred Rocks were so aggressive.

That'll be perfect to get really cool sexable olive eggers. Gives me a great place to put the CCL ladies that won't be going in my breeding pen. I'm super excited now!
