I am an obsessive candler. And these dang speckled turkey eggs are going to drive me nuts! I set turkey and call duck eggs on Thursday. Candled today to find 7/8 of my call forming (one egg has a peck in it from a chicken and it didn't form). But those turkey eggs aren't letting me see anything.
Thanks!!please clear

have to laugh when I remember first moving up here to ky. I told my husband I wanted a wine cooler and he said honey, we are dry. I looked at him real weird thinking, what has that got to do with a wine cooler? then proceeded to tell him, ah no we are not, it just rained yesterday..... he about hit the floor and could not stop laughing at me. I asked him what on earth is wrong with you? When he could breathe again, he said we live in a dry county,,, again huh? he says, dry county, no alcohol!! What?! are we living in the dark ages again???
I have never in my life heard of a dry county and didn't think it was possible in this day and age. oh well, he had a good laugh.
I am sorry for your losses today. I had to cull a poor chick today.... it was cross beaked, had no eye and its head was kinda caved in.... not bloody gross but still.
Sigh. I just damaged my first in-incubator, almost-done egg. I noticed that an egg had shifted out of a turner (weird, not sure how that happened), so I opened up the bator and pushed it back down, but I didn't realize that the egg on the side had shifted and I cracked it pretty good. The membrane didn't tear and the chick is still very active. Is there any chance it will survive? It was supposed to go on lockdown Tuesday. It's one of my Olandsk Dwarf eggs.![]()
Keep a wet paper towel around it to keep it from drying out. I think I read where you can use that tape you get from the hospital to keep it from drying out. Good luck!
