Hey I read that your geese only lay every other day. I know you have a bunch. I have Chinese Whites and they lay every day. But I'm getting some Eden crosses. What could I expect for laying?

The things that Opossums do to poultry are also disgusting =/

For sure! They are not only an ugly animal, but have an ugly personality and they do some horribly ugly things to birds!

chinese are the production egg layers of the goose world. The hatcheries have made them into laying machines. Other than production africans the rest of the breeds are low numbers and normally every other day. I am lucky to get 20-30 eggs from a dewlap toulouse and 30-40 from the sebbies and 40 is rare and high but we do have one girl who hits 40 a season

So my 32 precious dorking eggs all go on lockdown tomorrow and Wednesday they are calling for 6-10 inches of snow

Please pray/cross fingers/or whatever you believe in for the power to stay on...

Yup I feel your pain. My most coveted partridge brahma eggs are arriving when? You guessed it..Wednesday. Please please please don't let them be weather delayed or frozen or arrive fine to a cold incubator!

I had one get in the juvie pen last summer. It was a mess. We used the carcasses to trap it and then my hubby dispatched it.

Look what I found going in my front door this evening!



My son left the door open and when I walked up he had his head in looking around. I grabbed the pitch fork my hubby left lying around and pinned him to the front stoop. He was not happy and started growling and hissing, so I found a piece of metal from the tiller that my hubby also left lying around and brained him.

If he had snuck in we wouldn't have even known it until we found all the dead birds. I'm so glad I came in when I did. Sneaky ugly rat like creapy thing. And my hubby thought I couldn't take care of myself.

I dont likie them at all they have cost me nearly a thousand in product and thousands in profit, we killed about 5 last year and 30 babies

I'm with you both. 6 to 10 inches of snow is not my idea of an early spring. I got eggs shipped and eggs coming. My new bator is supposed to be here tomorrow. Keeping my toes crossed too!

I will be putting a bunch of the BBS Orp eggs in the incubator this week to time with Herducks visit. I will probably have some extra black chicks.

let me know if you have any extra blacks. waiting to hear from cpl about herducks trip too, maybe all in one trip?!

I am setting a bunch of eggs tonight. If interested in trading for some chicks let me know. Definitely will have some more black coppers, blue coppers, splash coppers, also setting blue marans, and some swap eggs.
