X2 I've been unable to think of anything better to say than what caj said.off topic: please forgive.
So I am pretty darn depressed.
I was asked to do a furniture inventory of the building which I initially argued against because I didn’t really see the value-added. And it was going to take quite a bit of time. But the boss insisted and I rolled up my sleeves.
Then, after contemplating it, I thought why don’t I incorporate the use of intelligent dynamic furniture blocks so that when I am done, I can extract the data to a spreadsheet whenever needed and it would be automatically updatable at any time in the future. And I could also extract just the data for certain rooms so that when we go in to do a room reconfiguration we would know exactly what we had and what we needed and could craft a concise list of exactly what we needed to buy or bring up from the warehouse to do the work.
I crafted some intelligent blocks and showed the boss the potential. He hadn’t even known it was possible and He loved it.
And then with his next breath he asked me to write a read-me file so that if they got rid of me that a novice could still operate the blocks and extract the data.

*sigh*
I can't add much to caj's response, which was excellent. I'm just appalled. What's worse, I'm used to being appalled. It's not even surprising anymore.
Yeah, Bhep thinks it might be a Spitzhuben? (spelling?)I'll take it off your hands. Was it from GFF?
What a wonderful, cool idea. I hope you don't mind if I steal it! This would be great.Something I did last October for my daughter's 30th birthday was fun, and might be appropriate, if you want to give her money but something to open, too. Amy was 30, so I prepared 30 gift bags (got packs of multicolored bags from the Dollar Tree) Each bag had 30 things in it, some with a joke meaning or serious meaning, and some just for fun. There was a bag with thirty small rocks...because Thirty Rocks! and another with 30 lollipops...because Thirty Sucks!...and so on. The very last package held 30 ten-dollar bills, so she could buy the new camera she wanted. The package was the highlight of her surprise party, so I hear. I wasn't there as it was in DC, but I got on-the-spot pictures. People were trying to guess what was in each bag before it was opened. There were silly, but usable, things like 30 pencils or 30 pens, and just plain silly things like 30 tissues. Amy said she'd never forget that. She also told her dad (who did get to go up) that "Mom must have a lot of fun putting this together!" So maybe some version of this. And you can include things like 18 cards to get out of chores, or for 18 movies over the course of 18 months, or things like that. That way the money gets spread out.
Anyway, there's a thought.

On the subject of 18 year olds...my daughter asked for and got a tandem jump from an airplane. My son wanted cash.
