Well... My incubator is just about garbage. What work Ed did had to be taken all out. The wires he used were too big (housing wire) and have damaged my thermostat now too. The best that I can do is to hope that if I can figure it out, that it's not too far damaged to still work. He KNOWS that I won't give up on this. He knows how important it is to me. I think he basically just wants me to completely fry it and give up completely. Which, I don't know if he wants me to quit 100% on incubating eggs or what, since all bators are going to be wired the same way that he deems unfit... So, at absolute "best" if that's his intentions, is I spend $700 or $800 or whatever and have a new bator that still has the wiring that he dislikes... My best bet, is he's hoping that I just don't buy a new one and then he gets his way... Since I can't exactly afford a new incubator right now. Sometimes I wonder what's going through peoples' heads.
I'm taking yet another break from the bator. I can only handle so much frustration before I have to walk away. :/ That's usually the point where G swoops in and saves the day, but he's confused and he's confusing me further, because he wants to set it up without the relay or the ac/dc converter and go from there. *Sigh* I just need a moment to think about it, drink some coffee, smoke a cigarette and then get back to it.
Moral of the story, if you don't know anything about electricity besides that it can kill you, don't try upgrading an incubator, because in all honesty, it's not worth the hassle. Not having an incubator at all is worse than having one that spiked every several weeks. :/
Oh no! So now you don't have a working thermostat either? What kind is it?
Maybe you could take some pics and post them for people to help you figure it out. Aren't there some incubator building threads on BYC too?
